Winter Learning Journey Day 2 Activity 2

Activity 2: Rio de Janeiro, the host of Olympic Games this year, is a huge, vibrant and dynamic city. Perhaps the most famous landmark in the city is a large statue of Jesus called ‘Christ the Redeemer’ that sits on top of a hill overlooking Rio. Here is a picture of the statue:

New Zealand is also known for many famous landmarks, including the Sky Tower and the Harbour Bridge. In your blog list 3 famous landmarks in New Zealand. Along with the name of each landmark provide a brief description of it. Where is the landmark located? In your opinion, why is it famous?

1. Sky Tower - The sky tower is located in Auckland New Zealand in town-My opinion is that it it is famous because At 328 metres, the Sky Tower is the tallest man-made structure in New Zealand.

2.The Beehive - The Beehive is located in Wellington New Zealand - My opinion is that i think it is famous because The Beehive is the common name for the Executive Wing of the New Zealand.

  1. Wow, Jerome, you have chosen some really interesting landmarks. In fact, there are about 100 students participating in the Winter Learning Journey programme and no one has chosen Old St Paul's in Wellington as a landmark. You are the first!

I think that St Paul's is a great choice because it is has such rich history. It is one of the oldest buildings in the country and this makes it one of the most famous and iconic.

It is great to see that you are being creative and thinking 'outside the box.'

    Way to go!

    Cheers, Rachel
