Winter Learning Journey Day 6 Activity 2

1. Mata and the Mysterious Musical Maunga
it says that it's a musical adventure in Aotearoa as Mata climbs a mysterious mountain to find an ancient flute. For tamariki aged 7–14.
I like this because you can play the instruments like the piano, guitar, trumpet, drum, bass and others.

2. Kaumātua Kapa Haka

Activity 2: After visiting Shag Point, you hop back in the van and drive all the way up the east coast of the south island until you reach the town of Picton. You get out of the van and onto the Interislander ferry. It travels back across the Cook Strait to Wellington. Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand and every winter the city hosts a huge Matariki festival to celebrate the Maori New Year. This year part of the festival is being held at Te Papa, a big museum in Wellington.
Read about the Matariki festival at Te Papa.  There are so many different things to see and do at the festival this year. On your blog, tell us about three of the events. You can choose any three events that you wish.

  1. Kia ora Jerome!

It's great to see that you have posted 6 days worth of activities for the Winter Learning Journey programme. Awesome work!

I, too, would have loved to go to see the 'Mata and the Mysterious Musical Maunga' show as I love music. I can only play the piano but I see that you can play a range of instruments. Wow! Do you have a favourite instrument to play? If so, which one do you like the most?

I am thinking about signing my son, Aronui, up for music lessons soon. Perhaps one day he'll be able to play all of the same instruments that you can play. Maybe one day...

    Bye for now!

    Rachel :)
