Winter Learning Journey Day 6 Activity 1

It would've been a good day
arriving on the bay,
Coming to the beach
keeping people in reach,
Meeting tribe's
They see us arrive.
getting out of the waka
doing a haka,

Activity 1: Let’s imagine that you were on the first waka to arrive at Shag Point. You had never been to New Zealand before and you had no idea what to expect. Write a poem describing how you would have felt when you arrived in New Zealand. Would you have been excited or scared? I would have felt pretty nervous, I reckon…

  1. Hallå Jerome,
I like your poem that you wrote because it is rhyming and filled with different rhyming adjectives. If you had written a longer poem it would've been very much in rhyme.

Hallå in Swedish is Hello in English just to let you know.

  2. Hi Jerome, I like the poem as it is rhyming. Would like to know how you feel about meeting the tribe. Keep on blogging Jerome.

  3. Hi Jerome, Good for you that you've tried writing a poem. That's not always an easy thing to do! And you managed to make the lines rhyme - every trickier! Good effort!
I wonder what your feelings would be as you arrive on a beach in a strange land and are faced by a tribe of people you know nothing about. I think I'd be frightened - especially if the tribe performed a haka! How would you react to that? Perhaps you'd be brave and perform your own haka right back at them!
Travelling often requires that we be brave, doesn't it?
I'm impressed that you've chosen to be part of this blogging program on your school break - well done!

    Leslie
