Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 3 Activity 3

only the adults carrying the squid - Adult can lift 25kgs,
25x4 = 100kgs, 25x8 = 200kgs. double that to make 400kgs with 16 audlts, then add another 4 to make 100 more kgs. After that the full equation is like this.

25x20 = 500kgs

Combined(Adults and Children) -
10 Adults and Children each, 10x25kg = 250kgs, 10x15kgs 150kgs. 250kgs+150kgs = 400kgs.Then add 4 more adults(25kgs) to make another hundred, so the total would be....

14 Adults
10 Children

Key - Audlt = 25kg
Key - Child = 15kg

  1. Hey again Jerome, thanks for completing yet another activity.

    I had no idea you are such a clever mathematician. Well done on providing two possible answers. I like the way you have explained your thinking too. I would have solved it in the same way - double and working towards the answer one chunk at a time.

    I wonder if you can solve the equation if only children were carrying the squid?

    Or, you could try it with grandparents who are only able to carry weight of up to 10KG.

    Thanks, Billy.
